Hyderabad: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has intensified its efforts to promote energy efficiency in Telangana and other Southern States. In line with the government’s broader vision of reducing energy consumption and environmental impact, BEE is focusing on enhancing the uptake of energy-efficient practices, particularly through its Star Labelling Programme.
This initiative aims to empower electricity consumers by providing them with the knowledge needed to choose energy-efficient appliances, thus fostering significant savings in energy bills and contributing to environmental sustainability. As part of these efforts, BEE organised a series of discussions with government officials and State Designated Agencies (SDAs) in Southern India, including key leaders from Telangana.
At the forefront of these discussions was Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department for Telangana. He emphasised the state’s ongoing commitment to improving energy efficiency, under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. Telangana’s goal is to provide a 24/7 quality power supply while adhering to global energy standards. Sultania highlighted the government’s strategic push to increase renewable energy generation, which will play a key role in making Telangana the most energy-efficient State in India.
